How to Reach Your Desires and Destiny

Keep Reaching for the Sky

For 21 consecutive days, I entered this time of self-improvement by meditating and focusing on my desires and destiny.   I realized that I never took the time out of my life to define my destiny.  Destiny seemed so far away.  In my mind, desires were always tied to relationships.  I mentioned in a previous post that every time I complete the 21 Day Meditation Challenge there is a major shift in my life.  The focus for the last 21 Day Meditation Challenge I recently completed was titled “Desire and Destiny”.  The daily messages and focus areas taught me how to reach my desires and destiny.

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why” by Mark Twain.  This quote was part of the daily message for the 1st day of meditation.  I had to read it a few times to really feel it resonate with my soul.  Do you know why you were born?  We hear about people trying to find out their purpose in life more than ever.  We have life coaches, you tube videos, books, movies, tv shows and many other sources that attempt to help us discover our purpose in life.   Meditation is one way to discover who you are and the steps you should take to find your purpose.  After you have discovered your purpose, you are on the road to living out your desires and reaching your destiny in life.

During this meditation challenge, I learned we should not go around speaking about things we don’t want in life but speak what we do want in life.   Another day of meditation that helped me practice thinking about what I want was to simply write it down.  Many times, we don’t have a problem telling someone what we want but how many of us really believe what we speak.  This is when faith is needed in your life.  We can write and speak what we want all day but we must believe it.  Once I started focusing on the desires of my heart and believing that I am worthy of reaching the desires of my heart, things began to change for the good without me doing a lot of work.  It may not sound possible to many, but I would say try it before you knock it.  Find quiet time every day to focus on what you want in life.  If you do it every day, it will become a habit.  What you desire will help you determine your purpose in life and destiny.  It may not happen overnight for everyone but keep the faith and endures to the end.

When things aren’t going as planned, keep believing that all things will work out for the good.  One of the scriptures from the Bible that I live by is in the book of Romans.

Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose”.

You could also call the way I use this scripture an affirmation.  Affirmations are words that form a statement that helps you overcome negative thoughts and brings about positive change in your life. Words that you keep saying over and over to yourself.  It will eventually become part of your subconscious.  Your subconscious mind is like a huge memory bank. Its capacity is virtually unlimited. It permanently stores everything that happens to you.

Here are 4 key steps that I learned from the 21 Day Meditation that can help you reach your desires and destiny:

Write Down What You Want (Desires)

Observe how each of those desires make you feel from just having a thought about them

Release Old Beliefs (Limiting Beliefs)

This may be one of the toughest exercises.  It may take some time and require an outside resource to help you determine your old beliefs.  Most of the time we aren’t aware of the old beliefs that were developed in our childhood between the ages of 5-7 which resides in our subconscious.  No Pain No Gain.

Create New Beliefs

Start with yourself. Write down one of your goals, and then list any beliefs you can think of that might stand in your way. Then go over those limiting beliefs one by one, and create new beliefs to replace them

Shift Perspectives

Change Your Phrases

i.e. “Life if Hard” change to “Life is Good to Me”, “Money is Evil” change to “Money can help me reach my destiny to help those in need”, “I’m not Worthy” change to “I Deserve the Best Life has to Offer”

There are many other actions you need to take in helping you reach your desires and destiny but changing your thoughts is key.

In closing, I would like to leave you with a quote by Mahatma Gandhi that I feel sums up my thoughts for this blog.

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”
